British-made saddles are sought after around the world, but ordering one from overseas can feel risky without proper advice. Our remote fitting process gives international riders a clear route from enquiry to a fitted saddle, with experienced guidance at every step.

This is not a sideline. Around half of the riders we look after are based overseas and around half are in the UK, and we have advised, fitted and supplied IDEAL saddles for an enormous variety of horses across the world.

How the overseas process works

The process for international riders follows the same careful steps as it does at home — see how it works for the full sequence. In short:

  1. You make an enquiry telling us about your horse and your riding.
  2. We review whether remote fitting suits your situation.
  3. We send instructions for a back template, set photographs and a short video.
  4. We advise on the IDEAL model and specification, including Designed to Order options.
  5. We handle the order, liaison and supply, and arrange delivery to you.
  6. We follow up after delivery and remain available for aftercare.

Communication and delivery expectations

Distance changes the logistics, not the standard of advice. We talk by email, phone, video call and message, and we are happy to work around time zones. Made-to-order saddles are built to your specification and take time to make, and international delivery adds its own timescale, so we set realistic expectations from the outset rather than over-promising.

When local, hands-on help is needed

We would rather be honest than win every enquiry. Remote fitting is well proven, but it is not right for every horse or every situation. Where a hands-on, local assessment is clearly required — or where there is a soundness or welfare concern that needs a vet — we will say so plainly. Our advice is not a substitute for veterinary advice. The value of the remote process lies in careful evidence-gathering, honest judgement and specialist IDEAL knowledge.
