Value and pricing

What it costs, and why it is worth it

Specialist fitting and a British-made saddle, with the price including both.

The saddle and the fitting are included

When we quote you a price for a saddle, that price includes both the saddle and the fitting. You are not paying separately for advice and then again for leather. The figure covers the work of arriving at the right specification for your horse and rider, the liaison with the manufacturer, the supply and the after-sales support that goes with it.

Each saddle is individually priced according to its model and specification. Where a saddle is built through IDEAL’s Designed to Order service, most options and modifications at the manufacturing stage — in both fit and style — are included in the published price for that saddle. There are some exceptions, and we will give you a clear quote when you enquire.

Value is best measured as reduced risk

A saddle is a significant purchase, and the real cost of getting it wrong is rarely just the price tag. A saddle that does not suit can mean a tense or uncomfortable horse, a compromised position, repeated alterations, or the expense of buying again. Proper advice up front is often far less costly than a series of near-misses.

Our remote fitting process exists to narrow the options carefully before you commit. By the time anything is ordered, the model, width, seat, panels and tree have all been considered against real evidence about your horse and you. That is where the value sits: in confident, informed decisions rather than expensive guesswork.

Made-to-order is specialist, not the cheapest option

We want to be straightforward about this. A made-to-order IDEAL saddle is not the cheapest saddle you could buy. It is the right choice when fit and specification genuinely matter — for hard-to-fit horses, for riders solving a persistent fit problem, and for anyone who wants a saddle built to suit rather than chosen off a shelf.

If your situation does not call for that level of specification, we will tell you. We would rather you spent your money well than spent more than you needed to.

How the order works in practice

  • We agree the saddle and specification with you before anything is ordered.
  • Made-to-order saddles are built to your specification, so there is a lead time to allow for the work.
  • Delivery is arranged to you wherever you are — see worldwide supply.
  • Your purchase is backed by a full money-back guarantee and after-sales service. See guarantee and aftercare for the terms.
